HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT BRUSHCUTTERTo get the most from your new machine its naturally important that you choose the right model. Your choice should be based entirely on the work you do. What type of vegetation do you intend to clear? How frequently will you use the machine and for how long at a time?
SOME TIPS BEFORE BUYING
Whether you choose a Jonsered or any other brand it is worth considering the following.
- Are both handles and the shaft adequately protected from vibration? Vibration will easily cause fatigue.
- Dont buy a machine that is too small. A powerful machine will do a better job.
- A brushcutter with a rotating handle will be easier to transport and store.
- Can the dealer service your machine? Do they have spare parts and accessories?
- Is the machine easy to maintain? Is there a good user manual?
- Can the dealer demonstrate the machine? Do they offer useful operating instructions on video and in brochures?
- Can the dealer supply you with the necessary protective equipment?
- Always ask to try the machine before you decide.
- Is there a good supply of accessories and spare parts for the machine?
- Check that the blade and blade guard are tested and CE approved as suitable for use in combination.
- If you are going to be working in hilly or sloping terrain, a machine with a motor section that can be carried on your back (known as a backpack) is preferable.
- A machine with a collapsible drive shaft tube is perfect if you also want to be able to use it for edge cutting and hedge trimming.
